Matthew Lords
Since 2005, I've helped over 1,000 people achieve their dreams of home ownership. Regardless of whether someone has credit challenges, tax or cash flow issues, or is a first-time home buyer, my greatest passion is helping clients obtain mortgage loans. As a top lender in the nation, I can lend in 49 states.

“We had an amazing experience with Matt at Barrett Financial Group. He was very upfront about what to expect. He made the whole process very smooth and kept us informed throughout our time working together. I highly recommend anyone working with them if searching for a mortgage. We will definitely be working with them again in the future.”
“From day one, Matt Lord and the Barrett Financial Group were leading the way in our home purchase journey. This was our first home purchase and can honestly say we had NO idea what we were doing or how to navigate the process. Matt was a constant guide and made sure we understood not only each next step in the process but also explained in detail the endless stream of documentation that such a major purchase requires. Thanks again Matt and the entire Barrett Financial Group for your help!”

His dedication, responsiveness, and commitment gave me confidence during what can be a stressful experience. I truly appreciated his patience in answering my questions and his determination to see the loan through to a successful closing. I highly recommend Matthew Lords to anyone looking for a mortgage advisor who genuinely cares about his clients and is willing to go the extra mile. Thank you, Matthew, for your persistence, hard work, and exceptional service—you made all the difference!”
“Working with Mathew and his team was an outstanding experience from start to finish. As first-time homebuyers, we came into the process with a lot of questions and very little knowledge about mortgages, financing, and everything that comes with purchasing a home. Mathew and his team were patient, responsive, and incredibly knowledgeable throughout every step. They took the time to explain our options, answer all of our questions, and make sure we understood what was happening at each stage of the process. What could have been a stressful experience felt much more manageable because of their guidance and support. We truly appreciated their professionalism, transparency, and commitment to helping us achieve our goal of homeownership. We are grateful for everything they did for us and would highly recommend Mathew and his team to anyone looking for a mortgage lender who genuinely cares about their clients. Thank you again for all of your help!”

FAQ
Frequently Asked Questions
Are Pre-Qualification and Pre-Approval the same thing?
No. Pre-qualification and pre-approval are two different things. Pre-qualification means that a mortgage lender has reviewed your financial records and believes you will qualify for a loan. A pre-approval is a conditional commitment from a lender that they will lend you the money for a mortgage.
Will getting quoted hurt my credit score?
A single mortgage inquiry has a minor, temporary effect, and credit bureaus count multiple mortgage inquiries within a 45-day window as one shopping event. We only pull credit when you're ready — never for an initial conversation.
How long does closing take?
A typical purchase closes in 21–30 days from accepted offer; refinances usually run 2–3 weeks. Clean files with responsive borrowers can move faster — our underwrite target is 48 hours.
Why use a broker instead of my bank?
A bank can offer you its shelf. As a brokerage, we shop hundreds of wholesale lenders and price your exact scenario across them — which is how tricky files get approved and easy files get cheaper.
When should I lock my rate?
When the payment works for your budget, not when the news feels calm. We watch the market daily, tell you when your target is available, and many of our programs include a float-down if rates improve before closing.
